A new type of phishing could put your organization at risk, according to an alert issued on Wednesday by ACA Compliance Group.
“A new, more dangerous type of social engineering attack has been identified which involves both vishing and spear-phishing,” according to the alert from the firm, which provides regulatory compliance services to the financial services industry.
The attacker uses vishing—the process of scamming confidential data by phone—to gather personal information and subsequently follows up with a spear-phishing attack. ACA has dubbed the technique xrishing (pronounced “krishing.”)
