GIC, the Singaporean sovereign wealth fund, is interested in acquiring General Electric‘s [NYSE:GE] aircraft leasing subsidiary, GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), according to a newswire report.
The Bloomberg report cited sources with knowledge of the situation who said that officials from both companies had a meeting to discuss whether GE would consider the sale of a part or all of GECAS. After the meeting, GE talked about the prospect of the deal with external advisers and internally.
John Flannery, the chief executive of GE, has pushed back against calls to sell GECAS. However, he acknowledges that the unit garners high interest.
